Our world is experiencing a new normal call COVID – 19. People are having a difficult time adjusting to social distancing, wearing a face mask, or PPE. We miss our social gathers, dining in and just getting together on a regular basis. We have seen massive job layoffs and people working from home. Universities have closed their doors and courses are being taught online. We would all be happy if we had a magic wand and could wish this disease away. However, through this pandemic God has given the Christian a gift called patience.
Patience is not indifference; patience conveys to the idea of an immensely strong rock. The vision of God is the source of our patience. Moses endured, not because he had an idea or duty, but because he had a vision of God. A man with the vision of God is not devoted to a cause or to any particular issues he is devoted to God himself. Habakkuk 2:3 says” Though it tarry, wait for it”. The proof that we have a vision is that we are reaching out for something bigger than ourselves. If we have only what we have experienced, we limit God and his power to perform the supernatural in our lives.
What examples in the bible you have read were God told his people to wait? Have there ever been a time in your life that God told you to wait but you wanted to move forward?
the Lord answered me, and said, write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie, though it tarry, wait for it; because it surely come, it will not tarry. – Habakkuk 2:2-3
When we are called into a season of waiting, what things can we do to stay the course?
those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. – Isaiah 40:31
Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. – Psalm 27:14
How can our vision be seen by others?
Clearly, you are a letter from Christ showing the result of our ministry among you. This “letter” is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It is carved not on tablets of stone, but on human hearts. – 2 Corinthians 3:3
With all these things in mind, dear brothers and sisters, stand firm and keep a strong grip on the teaching we passed on to you both in person and by letter. – 2 Thessalonians 2:15
All of us experience trials and tribulations in this life. When we experience trials it’s like being in an oven and we want out. However, while we are in the oven and the heat is turn up God is up to something. James 1:4 says:
Let patience have her perfect work that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Through patience God is perfecting our relationship with him, our love ones, and ministry. So, as we go forward this week mediating on the passion of patience.
