The Remedy – The Gospel of Jesus Christ
We’re all broken from the fall. We all inherit a deep lack of satisfaction. We feel unclean. But we can never fix it or clean it up. At best, we only smear the mess.
But this inability and lack of satisfaction can be a gift from God. How? It drives us to our knees, desperate for the redemption found only in the gospel.
The bad news of the previous lesson is invaded and conquered by the good news of Jesus Christ’s victory and the freedom He brings to everyone in His kingdom. Our Heavenly Father doesn’t leave His children unclean and in their sinful mess. By His strength, He leads them out of it.
It’s OK to not be OK, it’s just not OK to stay there.
God, by His resurrected Son, in the power of the Holy Spirit, transforms your life for Hiis magnificent purposes. He makes you clean. He rescues you, He gets the glory. This is the gospel.
Below is a sermon that summarizes when we have watched this last Saturday. Enjoy it. Get caught up and come join us.
Check out this weeks message from a sermon that Matt gave in 2014.
Battle plans for the week
We know that all the reading and study guide questions and scripture reading can get quite overwhelming with all the other things in life. What I want to encourage you is this….
- Study Guide scriptures and questions
- Reading of the book
- Watch the sermon again
Spend time reading the scriptures that go along with each study guide session (there are 3 sessions) and take some time to pray and reflect on the questions and your life, your thoughts, your motivations, your wounds, your struggles. Let us push into our hearts and get to the root of the issue. I believe we are all tired of just spackling the walls.
After a week where the reading and questions caught many guys by surprise, this week we can settle in with less unknown.
- Sunday – 2.1 The Root of the Issue – We’re Unclean (Study Guide – pages 30-35)
- Monday – 2.2 The Remedy for Sin (Study Guide – pages 36-39)
- Tuesday – 2.3 The Response of Salvation (Study Guide – pages 40-43)
- Read chapter 3
