A very lively week as we gathered. Conversations about our conversions, our hope; communications with others and misconceptions we have learned or been faced with by others.

A few big words that have been swirling around the church for years now get unveiled with truth. Justification (see Session 4) and this week: Sanctification.  We are certain, after this week, it will be really clear that there is a big difference in these to very important words.

We are justified and adopted one time and invited in. It is done and there is no further actions that need to be taken as it relates to being “accepted”. Now that other side of that is “sanctification”. This is a word relating to the ever-transforming life of being changed. It will never be completed on this side of heaven. We will be in the condition of being sanctified until death takes place.

As a believer, and follower of Jesus, it is necessary to know the difference in these two terms, because if you get them confused, your witness and opportunity to share the truth will be distorted.

Psalm 51:10-12 ESV
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from your presence,
and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit.
