I like to do fun, exciting, joyful things, especially when they are for the Lord. There are days when I need to prayerfully determine my agenda and watch closely my own tendency to get off-track. But then there are those days when everything just gets the momentum behind it and the dust starts flying.
hebrews10_24I think some of the most comforting times is when there is support and encouragement from those in my life. Not necessarily challenging me to do more, but to boost my spirit with encouragement. Doesn’t just seem less stressful and easier to accomplish things when someone is encouraging you?
In Hebrews chapter 12 we are told to take this direct action and spur one another on, to stir them up; to motivate one another. If we know how much that helps us, why don’t we take the action we are instructed to do?

Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds (NIV)

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. (NLT)

Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works (ESV)

Let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works (HCSB)

Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds (NASB)

Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works (KJV)

Let’s be deliberate this week and encourage one another. We are aware of many friends that are challenged with situations in life, situations with self and just are in a rut. Let us be of good cheer and encourage a friend this week. You just don’t know what the results might bring.

I want to suggest we encourage each other, but use love and care as well. There is a controversial movie clip that really takes the motivational tactics to an extreme. Enjoy.
